Bio & Statement

Alice O. (artist name Noryo) is an Italian artist currently based in London.

Her art explores human feelings and dynamics permeating the relationship with others and the self.

Drawing on her personal experience and her archaeological studies, she focuses her attention on the human body with a symbolist approach.

Her artistic influences vary. From the classical and neoclassical statuary to the renaissance drawings and paintings, from the romantic symbolism of William Blake to the metaphysical work of Giorgio De Chirico. Some of Carl Gustav Jung's theories have a big impact on her art too.

All this translates into a symbolic representation of emotional dynamics and collective archetypes through human figures and anatomical elements  treated like sculpted pieces located in metaphysical spaces where lights and shadows play an essential role.
